My lashes are Sky High!

My addiction to long and lush mascaras probably started with Covergirl's Professional washable waterproof mascara. It's pretty cheap at 5 dollars and it was pretty decent, or decent enough. Then, I tried Great Lash, Define- a Lash, Voluminous, and Glam'eyes and now I'm on Maybelline Sky High Curves mascara.

Why did I get this? One, it was 50% off. Two, my Voluminous mascara brush was getting horrible. Like the mascara was clumped up on the brush ,and the bristle were all stuck together. I am shocked. I've only had this for one month, and the bristles are so mushed together. I dont know whats up. I'm really upset.

Picture:

I'm so upset. I really like the fomulation, but this is absolutely unacceptable. I refuse to buy this again.

So, I bought this mascara for 4.01. Usually this is around 7.50 or 8 dollars. I love this so much. I pulled out the mascara wand, and there is not clumpage. Half the bottle doesnt come out and there is no need to clean it off. Only some excess on the tip, but thats nothing. It goes on super light and minimal clumpage

What it claims: 30% more length and 30 degree curl.

What I say: YES, I think that Maybelline really underestimated the length. I'd say more like 50-60% more length (assuming 2 coats). I definately see a curl, but it doesnt seem to say on my right eye, but that's normal for me. It's really wierd, but whatever.

Overall, I definately recommend this to anyone

HIP Pure Pigment Sticks

I found out today that my CVS was having the HUGE sale on cosmetics, many things are 50 or 75% off. So, obviously, I took a chance and got the pure pigment sticks by HIP. Usually, these things are 10 dollars, but I got mine for 2.50. I wanted a possible dupe to MACs Electra.
10 dollars for .07 oz or 2.0 grams isnt that much, and it's quite expensive for a drugstore product. Covergirl single eyeshadows are 3.49 for .09oz or 2.5 grams. And these things have MORE PIGMENTATION than the HIP duo. Kinda ironic isn't it. MAC eyeshadows are 14.50 for .05 oz or 1.5 g. That's not that large, but those are super pigmented so one eyeshadow can last for a really long time. So, the money would be worth it.

The packaging gets a stupid 0. A big fat zero. What were they thinking when they put the pigment in a stick? You can't use it directly on your eye because it's not very precise. Also, it's not soft enough to use a brush on it. Now that I think of it, why the hell would it be soft. If it were soft, then it wouldn't stay in a stick form. Lastly, it looks tiny.

This is smaller than my chapstick. To the average consumer, a covergirl eyeshadow looks better and better. I mean, the pan is larger, it just looks larger in general.

Let me start off by saying I LOVE HIP EYESHADOWS. I have gilded, spirited and gunmetal, and I love them all. They are pigmented and I know that they will last for a long time. These, suck. Oh, I have this in Dazzling, number 928. I pressed it into a small shadow tin, and even used mixing medium. It's horrible with mixing medium and worse without. I mean, I already made a small dent in it, and it's the first time that I've used it. The Physicians Formula has better pigmentation. The index finger has the Shadow stick. The pinky, ring and middle have physicians formula. The stick looks super pigmented... because I DUG MY FINGER INTO THE THING. The physicians Formula, I just ran it through a few times. Honestly, I'd just get Electra or some other brand eyeshadow. Anything would be better than this.
No lasting power. Period. Enough said.

NYX Jumbo Pencil... NEW LOVE

I friggin love this thing. I think that it's amazing. It's cheap, its huge, and there's a lot of product. It's smooth, its creamy, it's great. I have this in Yogurt, a light beigey pink color with shimmer. It looks like my waterline. I originally swapped for this so I could line my waterline.

Well, it doesnt work on the waterline. It dissapears after a while meaning 2 seconds. The color is great for a base, and if you want just a neutral look. And one a side note, my camera sucks. If I do flash, then my whole hand is like white. If i use my light, then my hand is orange. What can I do?
Sorry about my sucky picture. I will need to save money and get a new one.
I will post more often now! Well, okay this was a really stupid post but whatever.

Swap Haul + Random Stuff + Review

Hello Ladies!

First of all, I would like to announce that SAT May exam scores came in... and I got a 2220!! OMFGG!! with 800 in the math section.

Wow,GG to me.

Anyway, let's get started. So, my swap with roxyjones was just complete today. I got a huge amount of stuff. I swapped my childrens books for her MAC greenplay, mark chrome blue eyeliner, mark lemon dry oil spray and this garden blue spray as well. I also got a huge amount of other extras.

she is the most amazing swapper ever. The lipglosses will be up for swap because I don't like lipglosses. Yes, I prefer lipsticks. I don't like how it wears off so easily and I really can't be bothered to reapply throughout the day. I'm that lazy. Swatches. The top one is the NYC waterproof eyeliner in Smoky Plum. I will review that after.
I love all the colors. Well, not really. I love the chrome blue eyeliner. I hate though, how the brush is so fine. It's hard to get a thicker line. Same goes for the greenplay. I like the color, but I'm not sure when I would be able to use it. I'll have to find a time. Also, the liquid last liner (greenplay) is really lasting. It's ridiculous. You have to SCRAPE it off to get the liner off.

I really like this swap and I really recommend swapping with this person on makeupalley.com

NYC Waterproof eyeliner Pencil.

These pencils sell at 4.99 or 3.99 or whatever per pencil, which is really really cheap. They come in Black, Dark Brown, Mink, Teal, Smoky Plum, Moody Blue, and Sky Blue. I like the colors, but unfortunately, I don't trust the color payoff. Did you see the swatch color above? It doesn't look too purple. It looks really muddy. I would have liked the colors to be more vibrant and obviously that color.

It's waterproof, and it actually is waterproof, which im really sad about because I hate the color. It stays all day.

I dont' have anything else to say really. It's a boring product. Shrug. Oh, its smooth ish, but could be better.

Rimmel Glam Eyes Mascara review

So as I was browsing aimlessly through CVS, looking for Build-A-Lash mascara by Milani (I've been wanting to try this out) I saw the Glam Eyes Mascara with a 1$ off coupon and a free Soft Kohl eyeliner in Jet Black. That's a pretty damn good deal. It totaled to be 6.00 without tax. Price wise, I'm happy.

What it claims: Seductive Volume. Turn heads. New VolumFlex Brush styles lashes for sensational volume and instant separation. Ultra supple elasto-bristles groom each lash, lacquering them from root to tip for a spectacular 7 x more lash intensity. Big Lash Seduction. High Definition. Maximum lash impact. Impeccable definition. Smoothing formula glides through lashes, wrapping each one for ultimate volume yet perfect separation. Lashes look dramatically amplified yet sleekly defined - even up close and personal

On the packaging, it says 10x volume and 80% length
What I say: Haha. No 10x volume. I'd hardly call this a "volumizing" mascara at all. It does give length. I'm pretty impressed with the length. I'd put it about 60% though with 2 coats. If you top the whole thing off with L'Oreals voluminous, it looks super great. I like this a lot.
The brush:
Hmmm.... you can't see this, but there are short and long bristles on here. They alternate. I was pretty suspicious about the brush at first because
1. It's plastic. I generally don't like plastic brushes. I think that they're... weird. I mean, i didn't like how Maybellines Define a Lash's brush never had any mascara on it. But this is okay. Just a warning, this is SHARP. Don't poke your eye too much. I wasn't aware of that and I kept poking myself. Also, be careful when taking the brush out of the tube. One of the bristles is kinda bent alread. T.T
2. It's really bendy. I mean the part that connects the brush to the handle. It's kinda loose and bendy.
Besides that, its okay. No clumpage so that's a plus.
The packaging gets an A++. I really like this packaging with the pink band and the crown. It's cute. I also saw the newest one called "Glam eyes Flirt". The tube is black and gold instead of the Black and pink. I think that I like this enough to go and try the next one.
What do you guys think? I like this well enough, but not enough to call it HG. I think that I'd have to try out all other kinds before making my desicion.

Pressing Physicians Formula Baked Trios

Hello all! Today, is another day for a tutorial! So, if you read my blog, you will know that I hate the Baked Formula trios because of the stupid rounded top things. I understand the need to be creative, but what is wrong with the plain flat eyeshadow? Domed eyeshadows are bad because they don't pick up on your brush well.

And on a side note. For all those melting eyeshadows in a plastic old eyeshadow thing, only melt a tiny little bit at a time. If you don't the plastic might warp. The estee Lauder palette was made of more sturdy plastic, so it didn't. A Revlon matte shadow or a NYX one could warp and it might be bad.... so yeah. Just a tip.
Anyway, lets get started.

Things needed:
A dual ended pointy thing such as a kebob stick, knitting needle etc. A small jar, eyeshadow tins, 70% or 90% alcohol, cotton balls, paper underneath to protect your workspace from mess, a thing to press your eyeshadow, a fabric piece.

Instructions:
1. Crush up your eyeshadow
Use one end of your knitting needle thing to break up the eyeshadow into your jar/mixing place. The slower you do this, the finer the eyeshadow dust will be. You should do this so that the eyshadow is very fine. This will eliminate the need to crush it. And it will absorb the alcohol better.
2. Add alcohol
Only less than a capful is needed. Don't add so much that it become like a liquid sea, but add enough until it is the consistancy of oatmeal.
3. Spoon everything into a little eyeshadow pan
Don't worry about overspill. Alcohol makes the eyeshadow look more... volumious. I guess. Like it takes up more space. You should fill it up to the top. One maybelline duo eyeshadow tin will be able to hold all of one color. If you still have some stuff left in the cup, gently take a piece of fabric and gently put it over the wet eyeshadow in the tin and soak up some alcohol. Spoon the rest into the tin.

4. Press your shadow
After soaking up the excess alcohol, take something that is around the size of the pan and press! Don't press until your arm falls off. If you do, then you'll probably push all the eyeshadow out. Just press until its firmly in the pan. Choose a fabric with a good pattern if you want it to have some pattern on your shadow. I used a concealer stick to press.

5. Let it dry
It takes around 1 day to dry.

Kerry's Bronze Quad

Today is a GLORIOUS day because I have finished my APs! Yay! No more Chem and Bio!

Anyway, I also tried out L'Oreal's star secret quad in Kerry's Bronze. I was pretty excited to see this in the drugstore because I wanted to be able to get a color like the one that Melissa Gordon wears in Ghost Whisperer. It is a beautiful bronze color. Well, it looks bronze to me. I was hoping that this would be my HG thing forever.

Swatches:
Doesn't it just look great-ish here? The lightest ones (1 and 2) are pretty light, and the pigmentation isn't too great, but the darker ones (3 and 4) are good pigmentation. I was like WOW, i'm going to love the darkest color (4). In the pan, it reminded me of UDs baked and number 1 reminds me of UD's half-baked. 3 kinda is like MACs coppering?

Why does it look brown on my arm, but the ORANGE on my eye? ORANGE. Its. Not. Bronze. It's Orange. or copper, or whatever. But not bronze. I expected the number 3 to be coppery, but on my eye, 3 and 4 look the same. I just watched FafinetteX3's video on golden copper eyes, and the darker colors looked like Rule or Coppering on my eyes. Could they be dupes? I don't know. I dont' own them.

I'm quite dissapointed. The only ones I liked were 1 and 2. And 2 is supposed to be the highlight color. I admit, the shadows were soft, not too chalky, and you can get something to show up at least, but the colors are just sucking for me. They make me look sick and just... ugh. Clownish?

L'Oreal, you have dissapointed me. I was hoping for more bronze colors, not these strange orangey copper stuff. But if that's your thing, go for it. Will I buy this again? Probably not. I'd rather spend more money and get something else instead.
Any recommends for me? Post if you do! Toodles <3

Debunking Myths: Chapstick as a Primer

Hello. Before I forget, the empty pans I was talking about, you can get them at http://www.starsmakeuphaven.com/. They sell them in packs of 100, 25, 10, 6. They also have blush pans, empty palettes that fit MAC shadows, and ELF quads. It's pretty good. I heard this from Enkore on Youtube.
The strangest thing that I've ever heard of is using Chapstick as an eye primer. Yes, people actually do that. I've seen a couple threads about that on Specktra and also on Yahoo about that. I was curious, so I decided to try it out.
Eyeliners: This is HIP cream eyeliner in 905 Black. Ignore the purple streak below. Now, the thin line is the without chapstick. The thicker line is with chapstick.

This is what happens when you smudge it. Isn't that so gross? Already half the color came off.

This is eyeshadow. It does make eyeshadows more vibrant, but so does a good eyeshadow base. The middle is the chapstick and the right end is Lumene base and the left is nothing.

After school, I checked again on the status of my eyeshadow. It has now disintigrated into a nasty blob. Gross. I'd rather use Lumene.
I've also heard it to be a good lip primer. I again beg to differ. I don't like to put it underneath because I feel like it really dilutes the color. The left is the no chapstick, right is with chapstick and above is chapstick over the lipstick.

Overall, use chapstick what it was made to do in the first place. Meaning, no eye primer stuff or whatever. It just conditions your lips. Just get a lip primer from MAC or eye primer from UD. There is a huge amount of choices to choose from.

Physicians Formula Baked Smokes Review

Today, I will be reviewing the Physicians Baked Smokes. I have been lemming this for the longest time. I thought that it would help me create the perfect smokey eye. Before, I was going to get the L'oreals Smokey eye quad. Then I heard that the quad isn't very pigmented and that the Baked Collection is. Well, sorry, it's not.

Okay, So it's not BAD. When used wet (right side) its pretty decent. Used dry, it's as bad as the maybelline single shadows, and those suck. The problem with me is that when it goes on wet on my eyelid, it doesn't really show up too much. Doing a smokey eye, I find that only the lightest color is best wet. The other two, I might as well use dry. I mean really. Maybe it's because of my brushes. I don't know.

The shape really sucks. Seriously Physicians Formula? I understand that they want to be "creative" and whatever. But this dome shaped eyeshadow is bad. I feel like there is nothing connecting the actual shadow to the plastic pan, my brush doesn't pick up stuff anymore and ugh. I will have to repot them into a better pan. Oh, and when used dry, you really need to layer it on, or else there is nothing there. >.>
On the bright side, there are many colors and they look fun enough. The shadows are also soft and I'm sure they'd be elevated so much more if it were pressed into actual PANS.
Overall, I'm glad that I only got this as a swap. I will not buy this again, unless I find a better way to make this work (aka press, better brush). I will update EVENTUALLY about that.
