Firmoo Glasses: A Review

Recently, I got a new pair of prescription glasses from Firmoo. 

What a ugly lens case. I like the world thing but the logo is in a terrible color

Shitty construction. It doesn't close well. 

Nice shape. But what the fuck the lenses aren't very opaque

I like gold. 

Contrast altered so I look like I'm part of the MIB. Bad ass MOFO.

Overall, I'm okay with the service. I think their customer support is all in China because I got these half-assed, weird grammar customer support emails. Also, it's shipped from China. They also told me that "my order is very complicated and it would take 3 extra days". Why not say "it'll take 6 days"? That makes so much more sense. 


Right now, they're a bit strong for me. I recently went to the optomologist and after an eye exam, he said he could give me a prescription for a pair of glasses that were a bit stronger. I didn't want it. Then a week later, I went in for the prescription for these glasses. I didn't realize that it was going to be stronger. Damn! I'm going into the office tomorrow to get them checked out. I'll probs try them out tomorrow when driving or something. 

Review: Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in 05 Brown

Hey! I hope that everyone's weekend has been great so far. Mine has been excellent (even though I have to study for an econ test today). So according to the previous post, I bought this bugger from CVS for a freaking 8.49. 


Let's get started. 

Their Claims and such: Extremely smooth eye pencil with the application and feel of a liquid liner

that delivers true color payoff, in a metallic finish with a long-lasting wear.

Swatch: I'm a lazy butt. It's in the previous post--> AKA HERE. This isn't metallic. I would imagine that the gold and silver colors are, but this really isn't. 

Longevity: It's okay. I know that theoretically, it's a dupe of UD 24/7 liner or the MUFE liner. OKAY EVERYTHING IS NOW A DUPE OF UD 24/7 LINER BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT. 

The point is, it's good for my eyes. Just as a recap, I blink a ton and my eyes are watery. This combined with TFSI is pretty cool. It doesn't run as much. I still find that I am reapplying at the 8 hr mark, but that's okay. I also tried it on the upper eyelid (for you monolid people), and it's terrible even with TFSI. It like.. fades and stuff.. However, it doesn't travel up the eyelid. It doesn't make you look like you have extra eyeshadow on which is awesome and stuff. 

Packaging: Standard eyeliner packaging. Nothing too special. 

Price: Complete bullshit. It's actually 8.49 at CVS (last time I checked). It used to be at 6.49. Cool beans. Soon, drugstore items will actually be as expensive as MAC. 

Recommnded: Overall, yes. You can go to Target or Walmart to get this for much cheaper. I have some ECB so I will be getting this in Aqua. If you see it on sale, you should get it. Just saying. 

Review: Double Trouble Mascara by Lash Em

So around two weeks ago, I got a free tube of mascara from Lash Em. I really like this mascara! Here is my review below :)


Claims (as taken from the website here):

• Formula is easily removed, which is great to use on sensitive and fragile lashes.

So this is what it looks like after the two sides. Frankly, it looks like I have longer lashes. I don't feel like I have "more" lashes at all. I like how my lashes are really defined.

I think that it's really strange that the plastic brush is the volumising brush and the bristle is the lengthening brush. I feel like it should be the other way around, agreed? I feel like the lengthening brush can get a little clumpy. It tends to get too much mascara so you do need to wipe or else you get nasty bulk. Yucky. I feel like the volumising side is more of a separation side. 

Other Thoughts: It cleans off easily. It doesn't smudge nor flake and this makes me happy!

Price: 20 whopping dollars. This is unacceptable for my budget. 

Recommended: Yes, if you have the money. If you usually spring for high end mascaras, then you might as well try this out!

Review: New Rimmel Extra Wow Lash Mascara *PIC HEAVY*

Yesterday at CVS, a few good things happened to me. First off, I scanned my card thing and I got coupons for free band-aids and a free bar of chocolate! YAY! Chocolate tastes so much better when it's free. In fact, everything tastes better when it's free. I mean free stuff is the best kinda stuff. 

I also got a new Rimmel mascara: It's Extra Wow Lash mascara. Best part? It was a cheap 4.29 at CVS. It is officially cheaper than Great Lash by Maybelline. That crap is currently hovering at 6.00 at CVS. WTF. no. That's not cool at all. Anyway, here's the review. 

What Rimmel London says: Extra wow lash mascara by Rimmel London. featuring a rich pigmented formula with a soft bristle brush, the mascara builds the lashes for create a thicker, full volume finish. 

Brush/Packaging:

The brush with the gold handle is the L'Oreal Voluminous. Damn homie. The Rimmel brush is fatter but shorter. It's kinda annoying for my small eyes, but I digress. The packaging is standard black. I like it. It's simple. Keep it simple right?

Ooo I like this mascara. I feel like I get a lot of length. Not too much volume though... However, I like this mascara. I feel like I have a wall of lashes. On the second coat, I feel like it can get a little clumpy :( I just have to pick off the clumps and we're golden. 


Price: Cheap at 4.29 at CVS or 3.99 at Walgreens. 
Wear/Tear: Good. Even though it's not waterproof, it holds up. It doesn't flake on me and once I accidentally rubbed my eye and I didn't lose eyelashes. It would be really bad if I did. It comes off really easily with makeup remover. 
Recommended: Yes. This is a good choice and should be used. Let me know what you think!

Review: Garden Of Shadows Cosmetics

Well, it's not really a *FULL* review per say. I mean she only has eyeshadows right now. So, recently my blog friend Porcelaine made a new cosmetic line called Garden of Shadows.It's pretty exciting! The theme is called "Lipstick Feminists" and it's based on beauty bloggers she likes! I was one of them and my color is called "Eve". I was sent that for free and I got a "blogger pack" from her site. Basically you get a few colors for just the shipping cost. 

So here is the review:

Swatches: Over NYX milk. 

 These are the little baggies in order of swatches: Heather, Meg, Eve, Liv, Anne, Kari

 Without a base

 Obviously you see that it's not too impressive dry. Over a base, it's quite nice. The "Heather" color is really too light. It reminds me of NYX lilac. The taupe color (Kari) reminds me of Covergirl's Tapestry Taupe. The purple Anne reminds me of Revlon matte shadow in Aubergine. 

Wear and Tear: I use TFSI so no creasing. Nothing to say. 

Packaging: In sample baggies. I hate sample baggies. HOWEVER! I got a lot of the "Eve" color and I will be pressing it hehe. 

Price: 1.50 for a sample and 4.5 for a full size. I'm not sure how much the sizes are! I would like for the sizes to be listed as well. 

Ingredients: Mica, Calcium Aluminium Borosilicate, Carnauba Wax, Magnesium Myristate, Titanium Dioxide, Aluminium, Iron Oxide, Silica, Tin Oxide, Silicon Dioxide

The ingredients do vary a little from one shadow to the next. 

Overall thoughts: Not bad for a first time indie company. I think that the shadows are pretty basic and I would love more the colors to be more pigmented and vibrant. Also, I would love for the range to be expanded. Finally, there really needs to be a wider variety of items! Blushes anyone?

Guest Review: Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara

That's so exciting! A shoutout to you lovely ladies! So, since I've been kinda busy, I asked my sister to write a blog post for me. Here she is. You may address her as Y's sister. 

For those of you who will not bother to read the rest of this review: it sucks.

And now for the details...

What they say:

adjustable dial allows you to take your lashes from full to fuller to fullest, providing the customized look you want in just one coat of mascara. Molded brush separates and defines every lash while quick building volumizing formula applies evenly and easily. Clump free.

What I say:

what a load of bull. I have never been more disappointed with a mascara. I'm not joking. I bought the mascara for 2 dollars (it was 75% off, originally 8 buckaroos) at CVS, thinking it'd be a good buy and an quick-y mascara for the last month of school. It is surprising how much of a let-down it was. For a higher-end drugstore brand, you'd expect a flake-free, non-smudging mascara that at least lengthened your lashes. Uhhhh yeah......

For an asian, my lashes are not incredibly short nor sparse but they are very (and I mean very) straight. This requires mascara that can hold the curl of an eyelash curler. THIS DID NOT EVEN HOLD THE CURL LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO FINISH PUTTING ON THE FIRST COAT OF MASCARA. NO JOKE. If you need an illustration, my face went from this :o (you gotta keep the mouth open when you're applying mascara. Doesn't it keep your eyes wider?) to this -___- (my whaddafu* face when I realize how stupid this mascara is) to this >:( (angry. Very angry. Now I have to go to school-type angry.)

Now I don't know what the other colors looked like, but at least it's promise of “blackest black” was black. That is about as good as the pros get. I don't understand what the dial on the mascara was for. Apparently if you turn the dial to a higher number you get a more dramatic look yada-yada. It did nothing at all; when I actually compared them, the one with the “3” dial appeared to do less than the “1”. Again -_____-' . It was clump-free, but then again it didn't apply very much mascara...

Wearability: NO-NO. I wore it for about a week until I was able to purchase the L'oreal Voluminous mascara that was also on sale (hehe, waitin' on the bargains) and every day I had to pat a bit of powder/makeup remover under my eyes waiting for the time (around 1 pm every day) when it started to flake and run and leave black smudges under my eyes. Occasionally I'd see a few black dots which I later learned was the flaking of the mascara. The theory I follow: WHY PUT IT ON IF IT'S GONNA COME OFF BY ITSELF

Recommended: need I say more?

Review: Jafra Lash Maximizing Mascara

Hey ladies! I'm sorry that I haven't been posting in a while, but I've been so caught up in life, school, fights with the bf (we're okay now if you cared). I'm still not going to be posting ALOT but this is just to tide you over :). 

So recently I was sent some cosmetics by Jafra Cosmetics. I will be doing a series of reviews, slowly lol. Today is the mascara they sent me!

What they say: Sweeps lashes to their fullest potential. Volumizes, lengthens, curls with patented cotton extract. Vitamins B5 and E hydrate, condition. Smudge, clump, flake-resistant.

Product Packaging including the brush: The brush is huge and it's just too large. It's even larger than L'Oreal Voluminous mascara. It's ridiculous. I don't understand why companies think that bigger is always better. The brush would be better if it would be smaller and the bristles weren't so thick and plastic-like. 

Effectiveness:  Let's let the pictures speak for themselves. First is natural lashes, then curled, then one coat. I don't even want to do 2 coats. It's too easy to get mascara on your lids and the bristles don't really grab your lashes too well. 

 It does lengthen and volumize some, but it deflates the curl. It's a pretty natural mascara for me. I like it enough. 

Formulation: It's a really wet mascara and it takes a while for it to dry. It comes off super easily with a bit of makeup remover. Doesn't flake really but it does smudge with oily lids.

Price: Expensive at 14 dollars for 0.35 oz. 

Recommended: Meh, it's okay. It is expensive at 14 dollars. The results aren't bad, but they aren't really worth the 14 dollars. Just take the 4 dollars, and get some mascara at Target on sale. Put the extra 10 in the bank for later

Review: Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara *pic heavy*

Hey ladies!! Happy new year to all! I hope that everyone was merry on that day. I know I was! I went to a small family thing with my friend's family LOL. Yes, I watched the ball drop. How has everyone been? 

So I've been meaning to post a review on this mascara but I was neglecting it because I THOUGHT that I didn't bring my cord to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer. I found it in my suitcase though! YAY! So lets get started!

Brush and Tube pictures and comments: I'm not going to lie, I don't really like the plastic wand thing. It's poky and it hurts when you poke your lid. But okay.

Product Usage: I don't get it. It's supposed to grow your lashes (pictures below). I would imagine a lash growing thing to be like a liquid liner. I mean you really have to wriggle the stuff in your lash line to get some effect right? I mean it doesn't help if the serum is just on the hair. Hair is just protein. It's the root that needs simulation for you to actually grow lashes. Let's look at the before and after pictures of my eyelashes "growing".

Uhmm... Kinda I guess. I used it everyday. Personally, I don't see much of a difference. I guess it's a little longer. I'm not really that impressed. 

Wear and Tear as a mascara: It gives incredible length and great definition. This a no volume mascara and it's okay at holding curls. However, it has no concept of wear whatsoever. It's smudgy, flaky and really wet. I don't like that. Lets see some pictures

Price Point: Has anyone noticed how CVS really jacks up prices? Like Revlon moon drops lipsticks are like 9 dollars (5 at target) and like the matte lipsticks are 11.50 when they were 8.50 when they first debuted. I had to get this at CVS and I only did so because I had a 2 dollar off manufacturers coupon and a 2 ECB. It brought the price point to 4 dollars. Overall, it's an okay price if you know where to go. 

Recommended: no. I like the length, but you have to use a primer underneath or else it's going to smudge everywhere. It also doesn't provide that much growing power. I don't like it. I'll use it up, but not willingly.

What I Say:

Longetivity:  This thing stays on your hand like a mother! It's very difficult to rub this thing off your hand. However, I don't feel like it stays that long on your eyes. It claims to be 10 hours worth of wear, but I find that it stays for 5-6 hours max (with primer). It's like 2 hours on the waterline, so don't bother. 

Texture: It's super super creamy and very pigmented. It's quite surprising actually. I imagine that it would be difficult to sharpen period. It would be beneficial to freeze the eyeliner then sharpen it. Since it's so creamy, you probably would be able to get a fine point, and it's easy to run out quickly. 

Selection of Colors/Price: It's 5.50 at rite aid and sometimes cheaper with sales. Also, the colors are quite nice for a drugstore brand. 

Recommended: Yes, for the price, it's good. It's also good for asian eyes on the upper lids because it doesn't transfer too much.

What I say:

Lets start with the basics:

1. Smell- The smell is amazing. I love the smell of Garnier stuff. Nothing bad here.
2. Feel- An important part of the wipe is the feel. The texture. You don't want something that feels like cheap toilet paper nor do you want to feel like you're using a shamwow, unless you're into that kind of stuff. Also you might not want a cloth that's dripping with makeup remover. This towelette, has a nice texture. I like how it resembles a paper towel, the good stuff, like Bounty. However, I do think that it feels dry, and not as wet as Biore (MY FAVORITE JUST SAYING OKAYY)
3. Effectiveness- Lets let the pictures speak for themselves. I put the makeup wipe on the hand for 10 seconds, then wiped. The makeup was allowed to sit for 5 minutes.

Interesting. It took a few more seconds of scrubbing. My arm still hurts.

No amount of scrubbing could get the PF cream liner off my arm. DAMN. This is completely pitiful. I scrubbed for another 30 seconds.

Oh hay look at that. I have a suprise EOTD! So... yeah. This is how it reacts to eyeshadow. It's not that bad in that sense at least.  

 Am I happy? OH HELL TO THE NO. It is gentle alright. So gentle that it only removes eyeshadow, face powder. I have so many problems with this product. First off, why do they say in the description that it even removes mascara? I know that so many companies say this but really now? It's not like it would be considered a miracle if it did remove mascara. Like... it's not novel. It's not like "AND IT EVEN REMOVES NAIL POLISH!". Actually if a makeup wipe did remove nail polish, no way it's touching my eyeball.

Also, it's possible that i've been spoiled by Biore wipes and that I wear so much makeup that I need industial strength cleaner to remove my makeup, but really now? It can't take off gel liner? Uncool. There are still makeup residues on my arm from the eyeliners. It didn't even take off the Maybelline gel liner and that's pretty soft.

Finally, how is it that they are recommended by Allure? Well in the best of the beauty list in Allure, there is always Maybelline Great Lash.... Soo.... No offense to the great lash supporters. I just don't think that it helps my asian eyelashes.

Cost: Approximately 6-8 dollars.

Recommended- Only if you wear light makeup. If not, then no.
